MathMonarch Privacy Policy

Last updated: 5 July 2026 · Applies to the MathMonarch app and website (mathmonarch.ravishgarg.com)

MathMonarch is a maths practice app for UK students (Key Stage 3, GCSE and A-level). It is operated by Ravish Garg, based in the United Kingdom ("we"). This policy explains what data we collect, why, and the choices you and your parents have. We designed the app around the ICO's Age Appropriate Design Code (Children's Code): we collect the minimum data needed to run the service, we show no advertising, and we never sell personal data.

What we collect

DataWhy we need it
Email address and password (or Google sign-in)To create and secure your account. Passwords are stored only as salted cryptographic hashes.
First/last name (optional)Shown on your own profile only.
Age band (under 13 / 13–17 / 18+) — not your date of birthLegal requirement: to apply child-appropriate protections.
Parent or guardian email (only for under-13s)To notify a parent that the account exists and give them a way to raise concerns or withdraw consent, as UK GDPR requires.
Learning activity (questions answered, scores, topics, in-app progress such as ranks and streaks)To adapt question difficulty, avoid repeating questions, and show progress. This is the core function of the app.

What we do NOT do

Who processes the data

Data is stored on Google Cloud Platform servers in London (europe-west2). Transactional emails (account verification, parent notifications) are sent through Resend Inc. Maths questions may be generated by AI services (Google Gemini); the prompts sent to those services contain topics and difficulty levels, never your name, email or other personal details.

Legal basis (UK GDPR)

We process account and learning data because it is necessary to provide the service you asked for (contract). For children under 13, we additionally notify a parent or guardian and rely on parental oversight; a parent can withdraw a child's account at any time by replying to the welcome email or contacting us below.

Retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You (or your parent/guardian) can request deletion of the account and all associated data at any time by emailing gargravish83@gmail.com from the account's registered (or parent's) email address. Deletion is completed within 30 days and removes your profile, progress and learning history.

Payments

The optional Premium subscription (when available) is handled entirely by the Google Play or Apple App Store billing systems. We never see or store card details.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, correction, deletion, or restriction of processing, and you can complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk). Contact us first and we will usually resolve things quickly.
